Keeping our Children Safe and Healthy from Pre-K Through High School
The First A to Z Emergency Guide for Educators and Parents
By Albert David, with David Farcy, MD

From preventing online dangers, bullying and sexual abuse to lifesaving procedures in the event of emergencies …

NEW BOOK EMPOWERS PARENTS TO BOLSTER A CHILD’S PROTECTIVE ‘LIFE ARMOR’ WITH EMERGENCY PREVENTATIVE MEASURES FROM A TO Z

It’s a parent’s job to worry about dangers to their children. Some are foreseeable and
easily prevented; others aren’t. A parent can become paralyzed by fear of the myriad of ‘unseen dangers,’ or minimize tragic surprises.

Enter: Keeping our Children Safe and Healthy from Pre-K Through High School: The First A to Z Emergency Guide for Educators and Parents by safety expert Albert David and David Farcy, MD.

David and Farcy’s book is a complete guide covering everything from preventing online dangers, bullying and sexual abuse to lifesaving procedures in the event of poisonings, drowning, and other injuries. In short … it’s designed to educate and prepare parents – and children – for the unforeseen ‘God-forbid’ scenarios.

David, who has been working as a journalist and editor-in-chief of a health magazine in European countries for 20 years, has written several books in French including Prevention, Safety and Health in the Workplace from A to Z, Prevention, Safety and Health in Schools from A to Z, and Prevention, Safety and Health at Home from A to Z. During his research, he interviewed experts in emergency and public service such as firefighters, emergency physicians, and psychologists.

Keeping Our Children Safe and Healthy covers topics including:

• What to do in case of:

- Assault and armed intruders, advances by strangers, hostage situations, gas leaks and drowning

• How to help children deal with bullying

• Ways to identify and prevent cyber stalking

• Emergency first-response rules children should know

• Consequences of risky behavior (i.e. alcohol abuse, nicotine addiction, and STD’s) to discuss with children

• How to encourage children to discuss their fears and overcome them.

David hopes parents and educators will be encouraged to take the initiative to learn how to deal with life-threatening situations, and in turn teach children about the precautionary measures they can take to enrich and elongate their own lives.

“As parents, we cannot deny or hide from the fact that our children will face these situations throughout their school years,” says David. “But if we discuss these issues with them, we will help them make decisions confidently. And above all, by learning how to protect and rescue themselves, they are able to help others in times of danger.

“There’s a difference between making children paranoid and fearful and prepared; in today’s world – unfortunately -- ignorance isn’t really an option.”

  Why this book??

In today’s society, we can no longer neglect the numerous threats our children must face on a daily basis (school violence, bullying, shootings, child abuse, internet threats…). Why should we have to wait for an accident to start learning and teaching our youth Prevention skills and Emergency First-Response Rules? If educators and parents are aware of safety and health issues, they will be able to help children fight the dangers that hover in and around our schools. They will effectively handle life-threatening situations. So let’s build a safer future for our kids by making prevention our primary concern!
